What does the item "Status" mean in the Item Values window?

"Status" is a reserved item that is created by OmniServer for every topic that has been defined. The function of "Status" is to provide information on the health of the connection to the device.

"Status" can have only one of two values:

  • 1 - Success. The last communications with the device was successful, and the connection is good. All items in that topic will have a quality of "Good", and can be trusted.
  • 0 - Failure. The last communications with the device was not successful. Look at the Logger Diagnostic Window to determine any additional errors generated by OmniServer. All items in that topic will have their quality set to "Bad". The only exception to this is if the checkbox "Do not propagate a bad status to all items in the topic" (found when defining the topic) is selected. In that case, only the item updated by the last communications will have a "Bad" quality.
