How to start OPCENUM.exe manually or automatically
Ideally, OPCENUM would run as a Windows Service for continuous unattended operation. The current release version of OPCENUM (1.10.1.30) will run as a Windows Service [recommended].
If OPCENUM registered correctly it will appear in the Component Services list (XP and 2003) or the DCOM Application tab (2000 and NT). OPCENUM is subject to DCOM permissions so you must ensure that it has sufficient permissions that will allow it to both run and be accessible to local and/or remote OPC Clients. If OPCENUM does not appear in the Component services list, then it's probably not registered. To register it, open a command prompt and enter:
opcenum /regsvr32
Once registered, it should appear in the Component services list and/or DCOM Applications tab. Furthermore, it should automatically run as a Windows service which means that it will be always running, which is the preferred method.
