Windows Update caused error messages CIP Error 0x07E4: Could not resolve data type "x" for (tag name). Setting to Default Type 'y'

I am accessing an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and logging data using the tags in TOP Server.  I also have an application that is doing dynamic tag. After applying a Windows update, I started to receive the following error:

CIP Error 0x07E4: Could not resolve data type "x" for (tag name). Setting to Default Type 'y' for the tags addressed in the server

The dynamically read tags worked fine.

Download the ControlLogix database from the device to correct this problem.

To download the latest project from your controller:

  1. Right-click on your device and select Properties.
  2. Go to the Logix Database Settings tab and select "Create tag database from device". Click Apply.
  3. Click the "Database Creation" tab.
  4. Click the Auto Create button. Depending on the size of the project, database creation could take a few minutes.

Although it is a possibility, we do not believe that the Windows update causes this behavior. We believe that a change occurred to the project simultaneously.
