Connection to PLC with S5/S7 via USB-MPI

We cannot connect to our S7-300 with the S7 for Windows Software using the Siemens MPI/USB adapter cable.  We have loaded the adapter software, but none of the settings we tried seem to work.

When you go to the preferences dialogue, use the following settings:

  1. Preferences from:  = PC
  2. PLC Type = S7
  3. Protocol = SimaticNET
  4. SimaticNET:  Click Select Connection.
    1. From the Interface Parameter Assignment select PC Adapter (MPI) and click OK.
  5. Make sure the MPI address, Rack Number (0 unless using a rack system) and CPU Slot are correct.
  6. Click OK.
Now go to the PLC block list and see if you can connect.
