Using the Symbol Factory with GE Cimplicity
1) How do I Copy Pictures into CimEdit 2) How do I Convert a "Static OLE Object" to a Native CimEdit Object
- Select a Picture in the Symbol Factory.
- Click on the "Copy" button.
- Switch to CimEdit.
- Select "Paste" from the WinCC "Edit" menu.
Pasting a picture into CimEdit using the above steps results in a "static OLE object". These objects are lean and efficient, but they cannot be broken apart or edited.
Converting a "Static OLE Object" to a Native CimEdit Object
- Copy a picture from the Symbol Factory into CimEdit using the steps above.
- Stretch the picture in CimEdit so that it occupies most of the screen. This increases the resolution of the converted picture.
- Right-click the picture, then choose "Convert Picture Object..." from the popup menu.
- Your picture has now been converted to native CimEdit objects. This means that the picture has been "redrawn" using CimEdit's own drawing tools. The picture can now be ungrouped and edited, just like any other CimEdit object. One drawback is that native CimEdit objects will redraw slower, since there are typically many parts that make up a picture.
