OmniServer Sample for Mettler Toledo Scales using the SICS Protocol
I have a Mettler Toledo scale and need to be able to send commands to retrieve weight values. My documentation says that the scale supports the SICS protocol for communications. Does OmniServer support communications with this scale?
There are many customers using OmniServer for communications with their Mettler Toledo scales supporting the SICS protocol. To help get you started, we have a sample OmniServer protocol that contains sample commands for taring, send weight immediately and stable weight. The attached file contains the OmniServer .DPD protocol file, as well as, the Mettler Toledo SICS protocol documentation used to create it.
This protocol is now installed for you starting with V2.9! You can view our tutorial video on how the starter protocol was created and how to use this as a reference for adding any additional SICS commands you may required.
To install the OmniServer protocol (V2.8 and prior):
- Make user the OmniServer polling service (osrvpoll.exe) is not running. If the OmniServer system try icon is visible, right-click on it and select "Exit" to shutdown the polling service.
- Next, browse to the application data directory for OmniServer:
- For Win XP - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Software Toolbox\OmniServer
- For Win 7 / Server 2008 - C:\ProgramData\Software Toolbox\OmniServer
- Application Data is a hidden folder by default, so it may be necessary to edit your Folder View Options
- Copy "MT_SICS_SCALE.DPD" into this directory.
- When you start OmniServer, this protocol will be available in your protocol list.
For versions prior to V2.7, the .DPD protocols are stored at C:\Program Files\Software Toolbox\OmniServer
