DataHub values will not update in Excel
The DataHub DDE connection is being used to read values in an Excel spreadsheet. The cell is populated with the current value when the link is added, but the cell does not continue to update unless manually updated.
The problem is most likely the result of the Excel spreadsheet configuration. Adjust the following settings within Excel to begin receiving updates:
In Excel 2003.
- Go to Tools ⇒ Options
- Check the the "Automatic" button under the Calculation group is checked, and that the "Update remote references" checkbox in the Workbook Options group is checked.
- Go to Edit ⇒ Links.
- At the bottom of this window you will see a button that says "Automatic". Make sure this is checked for each link you want to automatically update.
In Excel 2007 or Later.
- Go to the Office Icon (top left corner) ⇒ Excel Options
- Go to the Formulas section and enable "Automatic".
- Go to the Advanced section
- In the "When calculating this workbook" header, enable "Update links to other documents"
- Go to Data ⇒ Edit Links.
- At the bottom of this window you will see a button that says "Automatic". Make sure this is checked for each link you want to automatically update.
- Go to the Trust Center section and click the Trust Center Settings...
- Do one of the following:
- Go to the External Content section and Enable "Enable Automatic update for all Workbook links"
- Alternatively, you can select "Prompt user on automatic update for Workbook links. Each time you open Excel you must click the Options and "Enable this content" and click OK.
