How to resolve errors when calling GetItemID in OPC Data Logger

I am getting an error message when browsing for Items using the OPC Data Logger.  The error happens when calling GetItemID and part of the message is below. Exception: DataLinkDAL Execute Exception: Error while trying to GetItemID....

In versions 3.5.0.32 or newer of OPC Data Logger, there is a setting you can use in the Collector for your OPC Server. Please follow the instructions below.

  1. Open the Collector Properties in the OPC Data Logger. 
  2. Go to the Extended Properties tab.
  3. Set the "Skip GetItemID calls on Branches" to true.
  4. Close and save the Collector

You should try to browse the items again and see if you get an error.
