Required Omron FINS Ethernet Module Settings
I'm having trouble getting the TOP Server Omron FINS Ethernet driver to successfully communicate with my Omron controller. Are there any special settings I need to be aware of for Ethernet connectivity on my Omron controller?
There are some internal settings and also some physical rotary switches on the ETN Ethernet module that are important for communication via FINS Ethernet.
- For ETN21 Ethernet modules, there is an ETN11 mode that can be enabled for compatibility with legacy Omron controllers using ETN11 modules for communications. If you are not using your controller to communicate with any devices having ETN11 modules, we suggest, in the programming software, setting the mode to ETN21 mode in the I/O Table and Unit setup for the best compatibility.
- There are three rotary switches on the front of the ETN Ethernet module.
- The first switch sets the Unit Number which corresponds to the Destination Unit Number field in TOP Server. This setting in TOP Server must match what is configured for this switch.
- The other two switches are Node Number switches and that number corresponds to the Destination Node Number field in TOP Server. It is highly recommended to set these switches such that the Node Number corresponds to the last octet of the controller's IP Address. You must make sure the Destination Node Number field in TOP Server matches what you have configured here.
