Do TOP Server Ethernet Drivers check the socket before they send?

Do TOP Server Ethernet drivers check the socket before they try to send on it to make sure it's still up and available?

Yes, this is default behavior in TOP Server Ethernet Drivers.  If the socket is no longer valid, then the driver will tear down the old socket and re-establish a new one automatically.  No user configuration or intervention is required to benefit from this type of operation.   Doing this prevents a wasted poll cycle waiting on a timeout to occur when the socket was dead to begin with.
