CIP Error=0x08 with ControlLogix Ethernet Driver V5.5.94.0

If you are having issues communicating with any Rockwell Logix family processor, using the TOP Server Allen-Bradley Suite ControlLogix Ethernet Driver version 5.5.94.0, released 18 Feb 2011, please review this FAQ and contact us if you need assistance.
An issue has been identified that in certain circumstances can cause this driver to fail to communicate to the target device.
Affected Driver: TOP Server AB Suite ControlLogix Ethernet driver Version 5.5.94.0
Symptoms
- You will see bad quality for OPC data and you may or may not see Device Not Responding errors in the Event log.
- You will likely see this message in the TOP Server Event Log:
Warning Allen-Bradley ControlLogix Ethernet Error occurred during a request to device 'Channel1.Device1'. [CIP Error=0x08, Ext. Error=0x0000].
- This issue does not affect proper operation of the PLC controller.
As these are common errors that can be caused by other issues such as a misconfigured driver or offline PLC, please check that your configuration is right before assuming the issue this FAQ addresses is the root cause.

ControlLogix users: You should be able to use the existing Version 5.5 driver without issue, however we strongly recommend you update to the latest version when released. If you get this error specifically, and know that your PLC is properly configured, please contact us if you need to get communications going before the update is available.
- MicroLogix 1100: We know this issue affects MicroLogix 1100 users. If you are using this PLC and have recently upgraded from Version 5.4, please contact us if you need to get communications going before the update is available.
- Other Logix PLCs and users of ControlLogix Gateway: this issue may affect the ability of TOP Server to connect to your PLCs. If you are having difficulty communicating to the PLC and are absolutely sure the configuration is correct, please install the updated version when available, or contact us for alternative solutions if you cannot wait.
NOT affected by this issue
- AB Ethernet driver for PLC 5/xx and SLC family models
- AB DF1 driver
- AB DH+/DH-485 driver
- AB Ethernet Slave driver
- Any other TOP Server driver
