Error: 0x8501 (8501) Received from Device

Problem:

This error means "Routing error: Destination node number is not set in the routing table.

Solutions:

1. Users communicating directly to a PLC via Ethernet do not need routing. In Device Properties ⇒ FINS Network Configuration, set both the Source Network Address and the Destination Network Address to 0.
2. Users utilizing a PLC as a gateway to another PLC need to configure the gateway PLC to route messages to and from the destination PLC. The PLC's Automatic Address Generation option is recommended. Users also need to set the server's Device Properties ⇒ FINS Network Configuration to match the PLC setup.
