DDE Client Connections and/or DDE Client Driver on Windows XP Professional / Server 2003

If using DDE for either a DDE Client connection to TOP Server or the TOP Server DDE Client driver on Windows XP or Server 2003 operating systems, TOP Server V5 can run as a system service only if the following steps have been followed.

  1. Go to Control Panel ⇒ Administrative Tools ⇒ Services.
  2. Open the properties for TOP Server 5.x Runtime.
  3. Under the "Log On" tab, enable the setting labelled "Allow service to interact with desktop".
  4. Restart the TOP Server runtime service.

This will allow DDE Client and DDE Server connections with TOP Server to function properly when TOP Server V5 is running as a system service.
