I have a home automation system and need to be able to communicate using the OPEN WEB NET protocol referenced in the user manual. Does OmniServer support communications using the OPEN WEB NET protocol?
Yes, customers are using OmniServer for communications with systems supporting the OPEN WEB NET protocol, such as the BTICINO MyHome Gateway. To help get you started, we have a starter OmniServer protocol that contains a number of sample commands from the protocol. The attached file contains the OmniServer .DPD protocol file, as well as, the protocol documentation used to create it and is provide as-is to assist you in getting started.
To import the OmniServer protocol (OmniServer V2.8 or newer):
- Open the OmniServer Configuration window.
- Go to the Protocols view (View ⇒ Configuration ⇒ Protocols).
- Go to File ⇒ Import ⇒ Protocol.
- Browse to and select the "OPEN_WEB_NET.DPD" protocol file and click Open.
To install the OmniServer protocol (OmniServer 2.7 or older):
- Make user the OmniServer polling service (osrvpoll.exe) is not running. If the OmniServer system try icon is visible, right-click on it and select "Exit" to shutdown the polling service.

- For Win 7 / Server 2008 - C:\ProgramData\Software Toolbox\OmniServer
- Application Data is a hidden folder by default, so it may be necessary to edit your Folder View Options
- Copy "OPEN_WEB_NET.DPD" into this directory.

For versions prior to V2.7, the .DPD protocols are stored at C:\Program Files\Software Toolbox\OmniServer
