Video: How to capture channel diagnostics in TOP Server v5 (2:00)

A step by step video on how to capture channel diagnostics in TOP Server version 5 and save it as a text file.

  1. First, make sure that diagnostics are enabled.
    • Open the channel properties and make sure "Enable Diagnostics" is checked. The diagnostics must be enabled at the channel level to run - you can open the diagnostics at the device level, but they won't capture information unless enabled first.
  2. Diagnostics can be collected either at the channel level or the individual device level— right-click on either the channel or specific device and select "Diagnostics" to open the Diagnostic Window. If you have more than one device under the channel make sure to select the specific device and not the "diagnostics" under the channel.
  3. Once the screen is open, position and size it accordingly.
  4. Now, open a Client connection to the server to begin communications (and diagnostics).  You can launch the OPC Quick Client to connect to the tags you have configured in the TOP Server.
  5. You should see the diagnostics screen show green/white protocol data. These are transmits and receives.
  6. Leave the diagnostics running long enough to capture the issue you are having.
  7. Once done, simply right-click in the window and choose "Save As Text File".
