How to Upgrade TOP Server V4 to TOP Server V6

1) Install the TOP Server V6.

You will want to make sure you install the correct drivers and the Native Client Interface for SuiteLink if you are using a SuiteLink connection. See our Quick Start Guide for more information.

Please back up your old .opf file before you open it with TOP Server V6.

2) Opening existing projects

You can use your same project file, so all you have to do is click File ⇒ Open on the TOP Server Configuration and then save the project if the Server says it is in Runtime. If you are in Configuration mode, just click on the Runtime menu and click Connect. Finally, click Yes when it asks to "Update the runtime with the loaded project following connect?"

3) Changing your ProgID or SuiteLink Application name

If you have an OPC connection to TOP Server V4 in your current project, you will need to change the ProgID you are connecting to. The new ProgID will be: SWToolbox.TOPServer.V6

If you have a SuiteLink connection to TOP Server V4 in your current project, you will need to change the Application name to server_runtime.

4) License your new TOP Server
