TOP Server addressing TCP/IP Devices via Hostname

In TOP Server, is it possible to address a device via Hostname, in place of using the IP Address?

This is absolutely possible, and extremely easy to configure. When configuring the Device ID, do not enter the IP Address as usual,  instead; the Device ID will take the form of:

<HostName>.DeviceID

Please note that the < and > DO need to be included in the address. Omitting them will result in an invalid device ID error.

When using the hostname, any communications will first attempt to resolve the name to an IP Address; failure to do this will result in a "Device not Responding" Error. The hostname can be verified by pinging it - the first line should show what IP Address the hostname was resolved to.
