Transferring Cogent DataHub Configurations

Is it possible to transfer my DataHub configuration from one machine to another, or will I need to recreate everything from scratch?

It is certainly possible to transfer your DataHub configuration from one machine to another.  Keep in mind that if you are copying a configuration to another machine you must have valid licenses for each machine where you plan to run the Cogent DataHub.

There are 3 possible areas that you may need to move depending on what features you are using:

  1. Configuration
  2. Scripts (if used)
  3. Web Server/WebView (if used)

Configuration

Windows XP/ Server 2003

C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Application Data\Cogent DataHub\

Windows 7, 8, 10, Server 2008,2008 R2, 2012, 2012R2 and newer

C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Cogent DataHub\

The AppData directory may be a hidden directory, and the path above may need to be entered manually In order to transfer the configuration, everything in the directory above - with the exception of the license file - needs to be transferred to the new machine. Your license file for the new machine will be handled by entering your legal, valid license on the new machine.

Scripts

C:\Program Files (x86)\Cogent\Cogent DataHub\Scripts

WebView/Web Server Files

The Document Root Directory on the Web Server tab in DataHub shows the location of these files. By default, this is:
C:\Program Files\Cogent\Cogent DataHub\Plugin\WebServer\html
