OmniServer Configuration not saving when I close the application
I have been setting up my OmniServer, but as soon as I shut down the application or restart my computer the configuration changes are lost - how can I make sure that these configuration changes are saved permanently?
This is a problem with OmniServer not having write access to the directory where the configuration files are stored (namely, the omnisrv.cfg file and .DPD protocol files). The first step would be to close out of the OmniServer Configuration and run it as an administrator. If the problem persists, you'll want to do the following:
- Navigate to: C:\ProgramData\
- Find the "Software Toolbox" directory.
- Right-click on the "Software Toolbox" directory and select "Properties".
- Then go to the "Security" section.
- Make sure that the user group or specific users that will be configuring OmniServer have full read/write access to the Software Toolbox Directory and all sub-directories. If not, click the "Edit" button.
- For user groups or users that are already listed:
- Select the group or user and select "Allow" for "Full control" to give that group or user full permissions for the directory and click "Apply".
- For groups or users that are not already listed:
- Click the "Add" button and enter the name of the group or user.
- Click "Check Names" which should find the correct user or group and then click "OK".
- Highlight that user or group and select "Allow" for "Full control" and click "Apply".
