Considerations when Running TOP Server in the Cloud

Can the TOP Server be installed on any cloud hosted virtual machine?

Cloud hosted Virtual Machines (Azure, and possibly Amazon EC2 and Google Compute) are only supported in TOP Server versions v6.0 and newer. If running an older version of TOP Server (pre v6.0) license loss is to be expected any time the Virtual Machine is rebooted. Contact us to upgrade to the latest version.
If using a virtual machine running on Amazon EC2 please note that EC2 machines have been known to change the MAC address(es), assigned to the machine's network adapters, after every reboot. Since this MAC address change would break the licensing it is recommended to use Elastic Network Interfaces (ENI) when a static MAC is needed.

More information on the Elastic Network Interfaces (including how to configure the feature) can be found in the Amazon AWS documentation: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/using-eni.html
