Getting Error "Connection to InTouch failed. Server runtime process must be configured for interactive mode" when using the TOP Server InTouch Client driver.
It is possible for the InTouch Client driver to communicate with no issues by just changing the TOP Server process mode to "Interactive".
I'm trying to use the InTouch Client driver in TOP Server to expose my Wonderware InTouch tag database to external OPC clients. However, in the TOP Server event log, I'm see the error "Connection to InTouch failed. Server runtime process must be configured for interactive mode.". What does this mean and how to I resolve this issue?
Due to the process used to communicate by this driver and InTouch and the interaction between the process that is required, there is some additional configuration required for TOP Server to communicate using the InTouch Client driver. This is due to TOP Server installing as a Windows service, by default.
- Right-click on the Admin system tray icon for TOP Server.
- Select "Settings"
- Select the "Runtime Process" tab.
- Change the "Selected Mode" from "System Service" to "Interactive" and apply the changes.
