Common OPC Router Barcode Scanner Configuration Errors with Making a Serial Connection
While configuring a barcode scanner in OPC Router, users may encounter one of the following errors:
“Transfer was not executed by a device Trigger” in the Barcode Trigger.
When manually triggering a connection with a barcode scanner resulting in no function and the error “Transfer was not executed by a Device trigger” please confirm the following:
-
Confirm that the barcode scanner has <CR><LF> configured as a suffix if making a Serial connection. OPC Router requires this ending to recognize the barcode trigger.
-
Confirm that all the connection settings in the Barcode plugin match the parameters configured in the barcode scanner.
- COM Port, Baud rate, Data bits, Parity, Stop bits and Flow control
Instructions on how to configure the parameters mentioned above can be found in the user manual for your barcode scanner.
Device “Barcode Scanner” not connected.
If you receive error “Device 'Barcode Reader' is not connected” please do the following:
- Confirm that the correct Barcode Scanner is selected as the Instance.
- Furthermore, confirm that the correct COM Port was configured for the selected Instance.
- If this does not resolve the issue continue with the following:
- Stop the OPC Router Service.
- Power off the barcode scanner.
- Disconnect the USB or Serial cable from the Computer.
- Reconnect and power on the barcode scanner.
- Confirm that the COM Port did not change.
- Start the OPC Router Service.
- Publish and go productive with the connection.
