RESOLVED: TOP Server Version 6.15 - Issue Loading Large Projects

My TOP Server project file won't load on V6.15 displaying the error "Connection Attempt to runtime failed: This operation returned because the timeout period expired" or remains blank for an extended time and gives the appearance of hanging

Users have been experiencing trouble with loading large project files in TOP Server V6.15. We have seen this issue present for larger project files around 200 MB (200,000 KB) and above.
There are two solutions as of January 12, 2024: 
  • Downgrade to TOP Server V6.14
  • Patch TOP Server V6.15

IMPORTANT: Before you change TOP Server versions, always manually create a project file backup by going to 'File -> Save As...' from the TOP Server Configuration and save it to a secure location. 

 
To apply the patch, please complete the following steps:
  1. Save your project file backup in a secure location
  2. Download the 6.15.132.4 patch
  3. Unzip the file and run the executable (The patch installer will temporarily shut down the server runtime, so it is not a requirement to shut down all components manually)
To confirm that the patch was successfully applied, navigate to the TOP Server install directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Software Toolbox\TOP Server 6) find and select the "libplatform.dll" > right-click > Properties > Details Tab. The File and Product version should show 6.15.132.4.
