TOP Server - Error processed during activation: Cannot continue, the request is corrupt.

When activating or transferring a TOP Server license, your registration attempt may fail with the following error: Error calling ActivateSoftwareLicense: Error processed during activation: Cannot continue, the request is corrupt

Here are the 2 common scenarios for this error, with the recommended solutions to each:

Scenario 1:

When transferring a license between systems or registering an offline machine via another machine, the Activation Request file may have become corrupted during transit. 

Solution: When moving the Request and/or Response files between machines across a network, always zip the file beforehand to avoid potential corruption of the files.

Scenario 2:

The Location Details (Machine Name, Location, and Description) contained in the Activation Request, or Notes during the upload to Software Toolbox’s Registration Site, contain characters that are not supported.

Solution: Please only include characters from the Roman Alphabet and regenerate the Activation Request File from the License Utility. Repeat the normal steps to activate the license, as seen here: TOP Server V6 Licensing Instructions
