System Platform 2023 installer with TOP Server v6.15 and later

For environments where the System Platform 2023 installer has been run, there is a known issue that occurs with TOP Server versions 6.15 and later.

This combination prevents project changes from being uploaded to the TOP Server runtime. When attempted, the configuration window disconnects from the runtime and a pop-up appears with the message "Runtime connection lost, reconnect?" as shown below.

4149 - RuntimeConnectionLost

In the Windows Event Viewer, a crash event will have occurred with the TOP Server runtime (server_runtime.exe) associated with the module abseil.dll.

Workaround

In order to resolve this issue, the below steps were provided by AVEVA and have successfully addressed the behavior in reported occurrences:

  1. Add a REG_DWORD(32) value called SupportRPC and set the value to 1 in the following registry locations:
    • Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\ArchestrA\Framework\Logger
    • Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ArchestrA\Framework\Logger
  2. Restart the machine
