What do the colors in the I/O Monitor Window of OmniServer mean?

The window called I/O Monitor in the OmniServer Universal OPC and I/O Server allows you to monitor the state of communications using your custom protocol.

This is primarily intended as a debugging and test tool. The data in the window is shown in color codes. What do those color codes mean?

The color codes are as follows:

  • Black - Data sent out by OmniServer to the device.
  • Blue/Cyan - Data that has been received but not yet processed by OmniServer.  Eventually, this data will change to Magenta, Red, or Green.
  • Magenta - OmniServer could not match this data with any configured host messages in the protocol.  The data has been ignored.
  • Red - OmniServer matched the data to the protocol but the checksum failed.
  • Green - All of the received data matched with the protocol.  This is the ultimate objective, to see all green for data that has been received by OmniServer from the device.
