Modbus Ethernet Encapsulation with Lantronix Co-Box

How do I connect my TOP Server Modbus serial protocol with Ethernet encapsulation through a Lantronix co-box to a Modbus serial device?

First, make sure that you have the cabling correctly set-up between Lantronix & PLC.
Refer to the Help documentation for instructions:

  1. Go to Help ⇒ Driver Help in the TOP Server configuration.
  2. Scroll down the list, and double-click on Modbus Serial.
  3. When the help document opens, click on Device Setup.
  4. Read the document, and then click on Cable Diagram.
  5. Set the Port on the Lantronix and TOP Server to 10001 (which is 10,00).


If you continue to experience problems with the connection, here are some troubleshooting tips:

  1. Can you connect TOP Server directly to the device (not through Lantronix)?
  2. Can you ping the Lantronix?
  3. Is the Lantronix serial configuration correct?
  4. Is the port on the Lantronix the same as the port defined in TOP Server?
