Creating ControlLogix Tag Database

How can I create a tag database in TOP Server from a ControlLogix PLC?

  1. Tags can be imported directly from the device by clicking "Auto-Create" in the Database Creation tab of the Device Properties.The advantages of creating a database directly from the device are speed and effort, as you do not have to save a separate L5K file. Creating the tags directly from the device also imports I/O tags that are not available through the L5K import.
  2. Tags can be uploaded using the L5K file. The advantages of using the L5K import is the ability to import descriptions along with the tags, which is not supported by the direct method.
